The Bose Smart Soundbar is designed for customers looking for better performance for all their films, music, and gaming. The compact soundbar provides spacious/immersive sound leveraging Dolby Atmos decoding. And for non-Atmos encoded content, Bose TrueSpace spatial processing provides an immersive experience. Plus, all the dialogue will be amazingly clear and crisp with AI Dialogue Mode, which automatically senses when dialogue is occurring and adjusts the tonal balance to improve the clarity of spoken words in all content without sacrificing immersive elements and effects.

Voice control comes built-in via Amazon Alexa (where available). Or you can connect Smart Soundbar with a Google Home device to access Google Assistant. Not just for films and TV, the soundbar can also stream all your music via Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi®, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, and Spotify Connect.

The soundbar is part of the Bose Smart Home family of products that you can group together for a whole-home, multi-room listening experience. It’s packed with other Bose exclusive technologies like Voice4Video technology, which gets you to your favourite shows with one simple voice command, and Bose SimpleSync, which lets you connect the soundbar with compatible Bose headphones or Bose Bluetooth® speakers.

While the Bose Smart Soundbar sounds great by itself, you can add an optional wireless Bose bass module and/or wireless Bose surround speakers to get even more performance and a full 5.1 experience. You can even pair it with the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds for a personal surround experience, where the earbuds add an immersive layer to the dynamic audio your soundbar delivers.

The Smart Soundbar is similar in many ways to the Smart Soundbar 600, but has AI Dialogue Mode that automatically senses when dialogue is occurring and adjusts the tonal balance to improve the clarity of spoken words in all content without sacrificing immersive elements and effects. It also has the Personal Surround feature, which allows you to pair the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds with your soundbar to add new dimension to your films and TV. Acting as rear surround speakers, the open earbuds add an immersive layer to the dynamic audio your soundbar delivers.

AI is implemented to allow your soundbar to know the difference between spoken word/speech and other sounds that fall within the same frequency range. This allows your content to present clearer dialogue that can otherwise be overpowered by accompanying background effects. Rather than simply reducing background effects and increasing centre-channel content (a one-time adjustment regardless of content), AI Dialogue Mode ensures you can more clearly hear the dialogue in your video content dynamically throughout your viewing experience and as your viewing content changes.

Yes. For those who prefer to have dialogue resemble the original production intent, AI Dialogue Mode is enabled and disabled using the Bose App.

No. Currently, processing capability in the soundbar electronics is limited to providing Personal Surround to one listener.

Personal Surround is a unique feature to open-ear listening only, because it allows the listener to hear their soundbar as they normally would; headphones or earbuds will occlude your ear from hearing the soundbar and therefore prevent a three-dimensional surround experience.

SimpleSync is a great way to hear all your video content, in stereo, through a pair of Bose headphones, earbuds, or open earbuds. Resembling the “grouping” feature where audio can be shared across Bose products, you can listen to your video content through a Bose wearable product when you don’t want to disturb others with your video. Personal Surround, on the other hand, uses the benefit of an open earbud to act as a supplementary audio experience to the Bose Smart Soundbar, as if you had surround speakers installed in the room. As such, the effect that the Ultra Open Earbuds are providing is a subtle accompaniment to the primary content, like surround speakers offer in a home cinema, bringing more dimension to explosions, soft wind noises, whispers, etc. that may be in your video content.

Elevate every experience

Dolby Atmos, exclusive Bose TrueSpace technology, and upward-firing transducers deliver shockingly immersive sound for a soundbar of this size.

Dolby Atmos & Bose TrueSpace

Dolby Atmos is a game changer for bringing cinema-like immersion into your living room. But while the library is growing, most content is not Atmos-encoded. For full immersion all the time, there’s Bose TrueSpace technology. It intelligently analyses what you’re watching and upmixes signals other than Atmos to create a multi-channel experience. So even 5.1 and stereo content get an added layer of immersion and realistic height effects.¹

AI Dialogue Mode

Using artificial intelligence, AI Dialogue Mode produces the clearest conversations with minimal impact to immersive effects. This sophisticated feature senses when dialogue is occurring and automatically balances voice and surround sound for ultra-crisp vocal clarity, so you can hear dialogue clearly without sacrificing the immersive elements that make Smart Soundbar so special. The result? Less rewinding, more enjoying.

This cutting-edge feature puts you in the centre of the onscreen action, adding new dimension that makes subtle details come alive. The wind whips around you during a storm. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound quality A++ I’ve now had this a month and the sound quality is fantastic and really doesn’t need the sub woofer unless you really want that extra base. You can alter the sound to your choice it’s not just set by manufacturer and the voices are enhanced so you still hear them in loud background scenes. Fully recommended A++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up superb sound! Got this to replace my 500 sound bar and it’s far superior to that the sound quality is outstanding I use it with the 500 sub woofer which enhances the sound and shakes the walls! But it also has amazing bass on its own

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant as usual We can't get over both the quality of the product and the amazing customer service when an older product goes wrong. Just before the pandemic our old Bose TV gave up the ghost and as Bose have stopped making televisions, as loyal customers, we were sent an entire new soundbar and satellite speakers! Obviously, we bought a new TV ourselves. Same story with the aging Bose HiFi system. When the bass subwoofer, stopped working, my partner was offered either as repair or a new bass unit and soundbar, free of charge. You guys are brilliant! We also use a Bose L1 system when we play gigs as an acoustic trio, so I'm wondering if it goes wrong whether the lovely people at Bose will upgrade us to an L2... lol! But seriously, even here Bose is superlative kit. Thanks so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound in large room! I've had this Soundbar for nearly a month now, it's used in a large entertainment room (approx 6m x 4m). Considering the size of the room it does the job well, for watching TV, movies and playing music - my son has played some good tunes on it at high volume too! Previously I've had a Bose surround sound system which this has replaced. The top speaker really helps project the sound upwards so feels like it's coming from the TV above it. It fills the room with sound (bear in my the sofas are approx 4 metres from the soundbar), so more than adequate for what I need. I did try a few other soundbars in the shop before choosing this one, it is sometimes difficult to choose which is best in this environment but I'm more than happy with the choice. I've since paired it with a bass module, not because it was needed but I just wanted to maximise the sound effects in the room it's in. Good points include - it looks good, is very easy to set up, is more than ample in room the size of mine so would be even better in smaller rooms, it automatically starts up when the TV is turned on, and I like the use of the app to control aspects of the soundbard. Down points include - it can sometimes lose connection e.g. when pausing a film so I have to go back on the app to wake it up if the remote isn't close by, it's not always easy to see what volume it's on as the TV and soundbar display don't give numbers, and the sound indicator on the soundbar itself doesn't show much when changing volume - I would love to see a little display with numbers on it! Overall though, very happy with it and the bass module just adds to the excellent performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic sound, compact and great for gaming! I use this soundbar for gaming as it fits perfectly on my desktop table. The upward and frontal firing speakers produce great immersive sound. This is connected via an optical cable and is a far better solution than buying separates for a pc. The sound bar automatically wakes up when connected via optical as there is a way to configure this. I would highly recommend product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great upgrade! Setting up the Smart Soundbar Our TV is on a stand with a column that hides most of the cables. So that I could use our original Bose TV Soundbar I purchased brackets that enables mounting above or below a TV. Wall mounting wasn’t an option for me. One change I had to make for the Smart Soundbar was to lower the mounting so that I could get a clear gap (over 4”) between the top of the soundbar and the bottom of the TV to accommodate the upward firing speakers. The Bose Wave Soundtouch has been relegated to the bottom of the stack. There’s no room for it on the shelf below the TV. Our older TV (still with great high definition pictures) does not have HDMI with ARC but it does have HDMI-CEC. So I use the optical connector for the audio but with an HDMI connection as well. That way my TV still controls the Soundbar and pressing the on/off button on the Soundbar remote takes the TV in/out of Standby. The Panasonic TV, when it detects a Soundbar, adds an extra line to the menu shown above - this allows the selection of ‘Home Cinema’ which mutes the TV sound sending control signals via the HDMI connection. The on screen message seen when changing the volume becomes ‘Home Cinema Volume’. Soundbar in use: The Bose App is easy to use and really helped with setting up the Smart Soundbar, it provides access to controls not on the supplied remote. One control I’d like to see on the remote is a button to quickly turn the AI Dialogue Mode on or off - music sounds better with it turned off. We bought our original Bose TV Soundbar because we realised we were turning the TV volume up to compensate for our perception of poor audio quality for dialogue. The TV Soundbar made a real difference. But now four years on and into our 70s we’re back to needing a boost. The Smart Soundbar has solved it. Volume levels are turned back down and the AI Dialogue Mode makes speech crystal clear. Our neighbours will be ecstatic! I’ve been listening to audio streamed from my iPhone - Adele is really clear, Texas (Sharleen Spiteri - “I don’t want a lover”) sounds amazing, it really does Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox justice. I played one of my Christmas presents (Everything But The Girl - Fuse) and it sounded really good. Samuel Barber (Adagio for Strings) the violins really soared - ethereal. Led Zeppelin, the Stones and the Who? - I’ve not enjoyed them this much since I used to watch them live. But perhaps that’s why I now need dialogue enhancement when watching TV? I initially connected my iPhone via Bluetooth but then switched to using AirPlay - so much easier - a nice touch. The festive season has been a good time for exploring the Smart Soundbar’s potential as our apartment neighbours have all been away! Movies were a hit with great sound - clear effects and speech - Bose Truespace Technology enhances the experience and we were joined by Mariah Carey and The Pogues - singing along with us whilst we cooked on Christmas Day. Overall I’m impressed with the sound quality, the Smart Soundbar performs very well with our TV and I’m sure it will be better still when paired with a TV that supports eARC - so we get the full benefit of Dolby Atmos. As an audio speaker connected to my iPhone - streaming from my music library, the Smart Soundbar sounds great and is easy to use. I’m very pleased with my upgrade!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Upgrade from the Solo 5 TV Speaker The Smart Soundbar was a much-needed upgrade from the Bose Solo 5 TV Speaker which I had been using and frankly had been finding a little underwhelming. I welcomed the Smart Soundbar to our living room a couple of weeks before Christmas, which was perfect timing in terms of taking it through its paces with all the binge-watching of movies and catching up on episodes! The Soundbar comes packaged with everything you need to get connected right away, and the set up is incredibly easy with the Bose app on my iPhone. Connect with the TV's HDMI eARC and just follow the simple instructions. A point to note - in case one is tempted to stick with the optical connection used with their previous soundbar, Dolby Atmos is only possible through HDMI. The remote control replicates most but not all of the functions available on the Bose app and I found it a little too "inconsequential" both in terms of size and functionality. I think if the product is going to have a remote control at all, it may as well benefit from taking on some extra functionality available on the app, such as the toggle for the AI dialogue function. Speaking of which, the AI dialogue function works really well, even if only really necessary late at night when watching the TV at low volumes. At normal volumes, I found the dialogue clear enough as is. Sound-wise, not much to fault at all. It is a massive upgrade from the Solo 5, with a much larger soundstage with great clarity and definition, both for movies and music, but especially for music. With the Solo 5, I found myself going back to my decades-old Lifestyle II set-up for music, but the Smart Soundbar now makes that unnecessary - unless I'm in the mood for some really big bass that is. One really cool function on the app is the ability to select from multiple music services and to create a shortlist for favourites, right there on the app. The soundbar improved my experience for all types of TV programmes, be they sports or Netflix, Apple TV or Prime Video. Incidentally, for those with both a smart TV and a set-top box, when viewing from streaming services we found it better to by-pass the Sky set-top box in order to obtain the best sound and picture. For movies, I really enjoyed Avatar and its sequel, and The Revenant in particular. The experience was so immersive that it was like watching the movie for the first time. It is indeed awesome to get such immersive experience from such a small and simple set-up! The soundbar does come with Amazon Alexa built-in but, already having multiple Alaxa devices in the house, I did not need to use it nor did I miss it. Sometimes, with connected devices, less is more! One function I did not get to test was the pairing of the soundbar to the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds for an even more immersive experience. That would have been great if I already had the said earbuds. But my thinking would be to - if I was going to increase my budget - to splurge for the Smart Ultra Soundbar for what would surely be an all-round improvement, as amazing as I'm sure the experience through the earbuds may be. In summary - while there may be room for improvement in terms of bass response and level of surround sound immersion - I am very happy with the Smart Soundbar's aesthetics and performance, and certainly as a great upgrade from my previous set-up. While slightly longer than the Solo 5, the soundbar is slimmer, and makes for an unobtrusive and very cool-looking, not to mention functional and pretty much essential, addition to any living room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A smart way to upgrade your sound Straight out of the box the initial impression was that the soundbar looked good, sleek and felt well made. Set up. The set up video was very easy to follow and the bar was amazingly quick and easy to set up. Connected to our 43” Samsung TV’s HDMI (Audio Return Channel - ARC) with the supplied HDMI cable. Due to its sleek design it sits snugly below the TV, making sure the upward facing speaker was not obstructed. The Bose app had to be downloaded from the App Store and whilst not flashy it was easy to navigate, register the soundbar and go through the set up process. It also has helpful links to support pages should you require them. Connected easily to our home Wi-fi and then to the Alexa app by means of enabling the Bose Soundbar skill. The Voice4video facility was easy to set up and use. It could be especially useful if you misplace the remote, allowing you to change channels or media source. The Blu-tooth picked up my iPhone and iPad easily allowing easy streaming of music. In short this was as close to a ‘plug and play’ soundbar that you could wish for, with set up taking minutes. Usage. One reason I was looking forward to using this soundbar was the AI Dialogue mode. I often find it difficult to pick out dialogue when watching TV. We don’t have the room for a surround sound system so I wondered if engaging the AI Dialogue mode might detract from the overall experience. With it being the festive season we have watched many genres of film and drama, I am glad to say that dialogue is a lot clearer with this enhancement and it doesn’t detract from the overall experience, you can still hear feint footsteps in the background, the rain falling, bangs and crashes with all the depth needed whilst hearing every word whispered or shouted. Love it. I use the speaker a lot to stream music from my own library and radio stations and have used the Alexa app to link the soundbar to other blu-tooth speakers I have to have music in multiple rooms. Due to not wanting numerous handsets I was happy to be able to link the soundbar to my Virgin Media handset, meaning that due to the ARC connection the soundbar becomes active once the TV produces audio. There were a couple of early niggles with the TV not recognising the sound bar when the TV/cable box was initially turned on and when switching between streaming music and turning the TV/cable box on, resulting in 10-15 seconds of integrated TV sound before the soundbar kicked in. Overall we are very impressed and happy with the Bose smart soundbar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding performance and fantastic features! I recently got my hands on this soundbar, and I have to say, it's truly impressive. Setting up the soundbar was a breeze—almost plug and play. The directions were easy to follow, thanks to the website linked in the start-up guide. The Bluetooth connectivity, built-in Chromecast, and the ability to add music services for direct streaming are standout features. I’m also particularly fond of the AI Dialogue Mode, which ensures clear dialogue even during peak action scenes. An additional feature, which I have not yet used, is the ability to group with additional speakers to achieve true surround sound. However, due to the virtual surround sound capability of this soundbar, I do not think this is necessary. The sound quality is outstanding, especially given the compact size of the soundbar. The audio fills the entire room, and the equaliser functionality allows for fine-tuning to personal preferences, making the listening experience even more enjoyable. Aesthetically, the soundbar is both sleek and well-built. It looks fantastic on my TV stand—definitely a high-quality piece of equipment that adds a touch of sophistication to the room. From the moment you take it out of the box, this soundbar is incredibly easy to use. The controls are intuitive, making it a user-friendly option for anyone. Overall, I’m really impressed with this soundbar. The sound performance from a single soundbar with no additional speakers added is remarkable, and it does an excellent job of filling the room with immersive audio!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bose smart soundbar For reference; I was previously using the Bose TV speaker primarily to counteract the volume difference between Tv/ movies and the commercial breaks, it used to drive me mad. Connected to LG tv using the optical cable supplied. Placed on a glass shelf on the tv stand. Tv speaker was Bluetooth enabled but I found it lacking in sound “ depth” when I connected it to Spotify etc. I bought the Bose 500 home speaker as my main music player and have to say it’s fantastic. Now for the Bose smart soundbar- first impressions are great, well packaged and feels like a quality item( as I’d expect from Bose). I connected using the existing optical cable and within minutes it was up and running. You do need to download the Bose app to set it up, although it does come with a remote, which is largely redundant. I’ve been using it a few weeks now, the only issue on set up was the auto “wake up” had to be enabled using the app. The sound quality for watching tv is very good and is far superior to my previous Tv speaker. No excessive changes when the commercials come on etc. sound during tv shows/ movies is a lot more dynamic. I’ve played about with the bass, treble etc in the app, but this is a personal preference and is easily done. There’s no discernible lag between vision and sound, but if needed that can be altered in the app. It can be connected to Alexa and play music from Spotify or directly from iPhone using AirPlay. I would say that although it’s much much better than my previous Tv speaker in terms of music sound quality it’s not as good as my 500 speaker. I don’t know it’s because it’s placed almost at floor level ( with another shelf above it) compared to my speaker which is at head height. I may play about with its positioning, to see if it gets better but seeing as I primarily use the 500 speaker for my music I’ll probably just leave it. Overall it’s a quality bit of kit, which I’m very happy with. The only niggle is the slow “blinking light” which activates through it being connected to my Alexa, this may be able to be disabled, but it’s not a big deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mr bass I bought this item a month ago.sound bar and base module which was on offer . Bose is extremely. A very good brand and Sound quality is amazing I was expecting it to be better but never mind for the money is it is very good value. The only thing I was disappointed was The base module. It looked a bit cheap plastic not like the other models which have a glass on top and also it was small. I would’ve gave it all five stars on my review.if base module was slightly bigger and had a glass top I can’t compare the sound quality on the base module as I’ve not use any other base models

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BOSE SMART SOUNDBAR BOUGHT TO REPLACE OLD BROKEN SOUND THEATRE, WE WERE SOLD ON THE IDEA OF VOICE BOOST, WHICH REALLY WORKS. BIT OF WORK NEEDED TO GET DOWNLOADS DONE FOR BLUETOOTH. MY TV ONLY HAS 2 HMDI, ONE FOR SKY, ONE FOR DVD PLAYER, SO HAVE TO USE OPTICAL CONNECTION, THIS MEANS I DON'T GET VOLUME CONTROL ON TV CONTROL. QUALITY SOUND WHEN I USE HMDI CABLE AND PROBABLY AMAZING IF WE HAD E CONNECTION.GOOD POINTS ARE CABLES COME WITH THE UNIT. WIFE LOVES THE FACT THAT THE PLACE LOOKS TIDY NOW. WOULD RECOMMEND, BUT EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN VIEWS. SUITS ME THOUGH

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Neat and good clear sound Had initial difficulty in setting it up as I was not aware that you have to have a Bose account before the unit can be accessed via Bluetooth. Once I set up an account the rest was easy enough to sort out. We don’t need the other facilities that the soundbar has, we simply wanted a better sound from the TV. This unit delivers good clear sound and we are very pleased with this reasonably priced item

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sound but some connectivity issues. Already had a Bose TV Soundbar so decided to get another and landed on the Smart Soundbar. It took a bit of time to set up and the App you need to use it is OK but I have seen better. The ALEXA feature is a nice touch but is only for asking questions, you can't treat the Soundbar as an additional Echo Dot to stream music that you have sent to other Echo Dot devices, shame that. It has airplay 2 but that is a little limiting if you have multiple Echo Dots around the home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great soundar due to AI dialogue mode This soundbar uses AI to make speech louder at times when background noise or music threatens to overwhelm the words you are hearing. My hearing is deteriorating and this solved the problem. A word of warning though. You can only turn on this speech correction via an app on your smartphone. If your phone is steam driven, you can't enable it. Great soundbar for the money though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice soundbar Lovely looking and very well made, sits discretely under the T.V. Getting it to pair with app and a lack of instructions makes a beautiful purchase a little hard to swallow and not sure it warrants it's rather steep price tag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big upgrade on TV speakers I have had the Bose smart soundbar for about a week and a half. The initial set up was a little fiddly and the app seemed to be 'stuck' performing an update. I eventually unplugged the unit, waited 30 seconds and switched on again and everything fell into place. It is certainly a big improvement on my TV's speakers. It has great sound and I find the bass more than adequate. Music streaming is easy and the sound is also very good. However, I have yet to get any sense of height from the upfiring speakers, including from programmes with Dolby Atmos sound. Maybe I just haven't watched the right programmes/ films yet and I am still playing around with the settings. Time will tell. I'm sorry to say the app is poor. It is slow, frequently crashes and at one point was repeatedly requesting feedback. It seemed to be stuck in a loop and I had to uninstall and reinstall to stop it happening. In fact, my phone sent a push notification that the Bose app was crashing frequently and I should put it in a deep sleep! App aside, quite pleased with the soundbar so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 600 Smart Soundbar I upgraded from the Bose TV Speaker, the 600 is hugely superior in sound quality. I probably should give it 5 stars but don’t really have any experience to judge against. However the two small niggles I have is there isn’t a ‘numbered’ volumne. Secondly which might be my lack of knowledge is the app always says playing from LPCM 2.0 not matter what I am watching? But I am very pleased with I do wish now though I brought the ultra smart bar as I am loving the improved sound and would like even better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Soundbar Had it two weeks and has proved good with speech although surround sound not great even with a Dolby Atmos feed from Netflix programmes. It needs rear speakers to provide a more realistic 'surround' experience. A real pain to set up as it required a software update and then stuck in update mode for hours when it indicates 'up to 25 minutes'. Needed help from support desk but their advice did not produce results. Had to delete soundbar from App and start again when it did update and was set for use. I will need to purchase surround speakers and probably a subwoofer to really experience a decent 'surround' sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not as good as should be Having bought Bose products for the last 17 years I’ve found the sound to be the exceptional quality as the name has always been. However, the connectivity and reliability of connectivity is something Bose cannot get right when it comes to WiFi. Today I left the house with wife at home, the Spotify played from a few hours earlier and the unit would not turn off when my wife pressed the button to turn it off. The usual sound played but it just would not turn off. I actually drove home to try and connect the app but it wouldn’t connect as didn’t see the WiFi. So it somehow needed the WiFi to turn itself off? In the end the only way I could stop it playing was to remove the mains plug.. I cannot believe in 2025 still cannot get the WiFi part of technology right.. I also find the volume slide not very smooth in adjustment and sometimes jumping to high volume, something that was a problem in the past..
