Playing iTunes Audiobooks through SoundTouch

Find out how to listen to audio books downloaded or added to an iTunes Music Library linked to your SoundTouch account.

Determine if the Audiobook files are AAC files.

In iTunes, Audiobooks carry a .m4b extension and will not show up in the SoundTouch app. However, .m4b files can be changed to .m4a files and re-imported if they are an AAC file.

For information on determining the file type, see Determining the file type of an audio track.

If the file is AAC, change the extension to .m4a.

  1. Locate the audio file. Unless it's been manually changed, the location is /Users/[username]/Music/iTunes/
  2. Select and then single-click the file name to rename it. Alternatively, right-click the file name and select Rename
  3. Change the extension at the end of the file name from .acc to .m4a
  4. Re-add the file to iTunes
  5. Once added, change the Media Kind for the file to Music
    1. Right-click the file
    2. Click Options
    3. Click the Media kind drop-down menu and select Music

  6. Wait up to 15 minutes for your Music Library to automatically sync. For more info, see Syncing the Music Library
  7. In the Music LIbrary, go to the Books & Spoken Word genre to find and play the file.
