The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is incredibly flexible but works best when it has space around it on a flat, stable, and level surface. It can also be used with the Bose Lifestyle Floor Stand or Bose Lifestyle Wall Bracket.

It is recommended to place the Lifestyle Ultra Speaker at least 5 cm away from a wall or corner to prevent unintended bass frequency build-up. To get the most from your Lifestyle Ultra Speaker, do not place it in or under a shelf/cabinet, as this will prevent the upward-firing speaker from spreading out into the room and significantly impact your speaker’s performance.

When using the Bose Lifestyle Wall Bracket, it is recommended to mount the top of the bracket at or just above ear height of your listening position and angle the speaker into your listening position. The speaker may be mounted higher and angled down; however, it is recommended to leave at least 61 cm between the top of the speaker and the ceiling to maintain the separation of surround and height effects. It is highly recommended to run the CustomTune process to optimise your sound when mounting the Lifestyle Ultra Speakers as part of your home cinema set-up.

The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is not rated for outdoor use.

The primary way to connect to the Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is via Wi-Fi options like Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, or Amazon Alexa (where available). Apple AirPlay and Spotify Connect are available immediately after Wi-Fi set-up. To get started with Google Cast, you will need to open the Bose app and turn on Google Cast for each product. To get started with Amazon Alexa, you will need to open the Bose app and enable Amazon Alexa for each product. Bluetooth audio and a 3.5 mm aux input are also available.

The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker supports Amazon Alexa and is ready for Alexa+ in the US. Follow the instructions in the Bose app to enable Amazon Alexa services. Once enabled, you can mute the mic using the speaker’s mic mute button, a red light will stay on. Tap again to unmute the microphone and the light will go off.

Yes. The Lifestyle Collection products can be grouped as part of a multiroom audio system using Apple AirPlay or Google Cast. To get started with Google Cast, open the Bose app and turn on Google Cast for each product.

Yes. Two Lifestyle Ultra Speakers can be configured as a stereo pair in the Bose app to create a wide, immersive soundstage. If setting up two new Lifestyle Ultra Speakers as a stereo pair, select the stereo pair option in the app during set-up of the first speaker to minimise steps later.

The Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is not designed to work with your TV by itself but a set of two can be used as surround speakers with a Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar as part of a home cinema configuration. It is not recommended to use the Lifestyle Ultra Speaker with a TV using Bluetooth or a 3.5 mm aux line input due to latency/lip sync issues.

They are only compatible with the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. The Lifestyle Ultra Speakers can be configured as surround speakers for the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar via the Bose app to create a full wrap-around, immersive soundstage. If setting up two new Lifestyle Ultra Speakers as surround speakers at the same time as a Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, start with the soundbar first or select the Home Cinema option in the app during set-up to minimise steps later.

No. The Lifestyle Collection is designed to fit into your life, so you can create your own set-up all at once, or piece by piece. You can add a pair of Lifestyle Ultra Speakers to your Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar at any time.

Yes. You can connect a source device via the 3.5 mm aux input at the rear of the speaker. To switch to the aux source, press and hold the play/pause button. The aux source can also be used with two Lifestyle Ultra Speakers configured in a stereo pair.

For music streaming over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, use your music service provider app to play/pause, skip, and adjust the volume. You can also use the speaker buttons or voice control (if enabled).

For music via a 3.5 mm aux input, you may need to set the output volume on your source device to prevent your Lifestyle Ultra Speaker from distorting. Play/pause and skip must be done using your source device, but you can use the Bose app, speaker controls, or voice control to adjust the volume of content played over the 3.5 mm aux input.

The Lifestyle Collection automatically updates when connected to your home network. When an internet connection is available, your Lifestyle Ultra Speaker will download and install the latest software overnight while the product is not in use.

Ratings and Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile WiFi / home cinema system speakers This has got to be one of the most versatile speakers I’ve ever owned. In the month that I’ve had them (got a pair) I’ve used them as part of a home cinema system, one their own and as a stereo pair. The appearance is modern, classy and high end featuring controls mounted on the top in the same style as the matching soundbar and has Alexa built in too. Siting the speakers is important, initially as part of a home cinema system they were on the floor and not only was the sound lost but I was concerned they get bashed by my kids. If you get one or a pair of these they need to be mounted on a cabinet or the floor stands which I opted for once they were back in stock. However you use them, their party trick is the upward pointing driver that really does elevate the sound in the room, a great feature there. As individual speakers or a stereo pair they pack a punch but could be louder, that said the sound is deep, rich bass with crystal clear vocals. I’ve only streamed to them with Spotify connect which works a treat but they support air play and Bluetooth if that’s your preferred technology. All controlled in the Bose app or by the controls on top. As part of a home cinema system they play more of a back seat role bringing subtle sounds leaving the soundbar and the subwoofer to take centre stage. That said they are more involved than the satellite speakers in my old 5.1 setup. The involvement of the speakers in a home cinema configuration depends on the source audio, I’ve noticed streaming apps and 4K channels that output in Dolby digital plus really bring them to life where as other formats such as standard Dolby digital do not. The biggest surprise was the first time watching football sky sports uhd where I felt like I was in the stadium, really impressive. To take them to the next level Bose need to allow more flexibility in the app for how they’re used. For example they’re in a home cinema system, a stereo pair or individual and you have to add/remove the speakers each time you wish to use them differently. Also in the home cinema configuration there needs to be a music mode so when you stream Spotify or air play to the soundbar these speakers get fully involved and don’t take the back seat. Fingers crossed that’s coming in a firmware update. So, bottom line, am I happy with them? Yes, love them. Would I recommend? Yes, just don’t leave them on the floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Speakers with Excellent Sound These Bose Lifestyle Ultra speakers are compact and very much in line with Bose’s understated aesthetic. Mine have a matte black finish and the discreet controls mean they sit quietly in my room rather than dominating it. Along with the subwoofer and soundbar, they form a cohesive and elegant setup. Setup is simple and intuitive via the Bose app. It feels familiar if you’ve used other Bose products such as earbuds or the SoundLink. There’s no remote, but in practice you don’t miss it as everything is easily controlled via your phone. The whole experience is straightforward and so very appealing for those of us with limited tech savviness. Used as part of the full system with the soundbar and subwoofer, the sound is excellent. It is wholly immersive, with real depth and presence that makes films, sport and TV feel bigger and more engaging. Where they really stand out for me, though, is in their versatility. I’ve also been using them individually as smart speakers, connecting easily to a wide range of streaming platforms. In this mode, the sound is still rich and full, well beyond what you’d expect from something this size. My main interest, however, is vinyl. I had been running my turntable through a decent (but not ludicrously top-end) pre-amp and pair of bookshelf speakers. These Bose speakers not only match that setup but arguably exceed it in clarity and depth. I live in a flat where space is limited and so these speakers offer a genuinely strong alternative, retaining great sound but without the bulk, clutter or spaghetti cabling of the setup I had been using. It would be great if they were rechargeable, so I could move them around and make maximum use of their versatility, but however you choose to use them you're in for a great sound experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding audio Excellent product, I've been thoroughly enjoying it since I bought it. Yet, I faced some minor difficulties while attempting to link them together. The connection isn't consistently seamless, and when it does work, there's a noticeable delay between the two. As a result, one speaker lags slightly, altering the audio experience. Despite this setback, the audio quality is exceptional. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product! I incorporated two of the Lifestyle Ultra Speakers to my living room as part of my home theatre setup and honestly cannot say a bad word about them. Upon delivery, the product was well packaged and the unboxing experience was great. It was so easy to connect the speakers to the other system elements using the Bose app, and once connected there have been no issues whatsoever. The speakers look amazing and have the feel of premium product with great build quality. While the speakers add some surround element for everyday TV viewing, they completely come into their own when watching films. The sound quality is fabulous and makes a movie night experience incredibly immersive and engaging. Highly recommend!
