WondaGurl, Call me a producer

When sound is your calling

(And how superstar producer WondaGurl made her own way in music)

Ebony Naomi Oshunrinde, aka WondaGurl, is a record producer, songwriter and record executive who’s been honing her craft since childhood. She made history in 2021 by becoming the first Black woman to win Producer of the Year at the Juno Awards.

“At that time, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was just creating.”

“What first sparked my interest in production was watching Timbaland while he was working on The Black Album.”

“Around the age of 13, I realised that this was my calling. Because that’s kind of when I realised it’s possible.”
