The most immersive Bose soundbar.

For all your content.

For a soundbar to come closer to creating a cinematic experience, it has to do more than just point sound in different directions. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Dolby Atmos® goes well beyond that, adding a layer of realism that no other soundbar can duplicate. Exclusive Bose technologies elevate all content by separating instruments, dialogue and effects, placing them in discrete parts of a room—far left, far right, overhead—for immersion like you’ve never felt before.

Tons of tech, beautifully wrapped.

For all its stunning looks, the technology inside this premium Dolby Atmos® soundbar is what’s truly astonishing. A seven-speaker arrangement is precisely positioned in the cabinet—including two new transducers that help deliver sound you’d expect from in-ceiling speakers. This works in tandem with proprietary PhaseGuide technology to beam multi-directional sound to distinct areas in your room, giving you the feeling that what you hear is coming from places outside of your speaker.

Cinematic sound. At home.

What exactly is Dolby Atmos®? It’s a technology that allows artists and content creators to place each voice, instrument and sound in its own space, creating an unparalleled spatial experience with realistic overhead effects. You’re in the middle of it all, right in your living room, enjoying the peak of home entertainment.

When there’s no Dolby Atmos content, like stereo or 5.1, Bose TrueSpace™ technology takes over for the vertical experience, remixing signals to add “height” without adding a ceiling speaker, creating the same immersive sound experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good improvement over the soundbar 700 Ok,so I have been using the soundbar 900 for a few days now and I like to think I’ve seen what it’s capable off in both movies and listening to music.Sorry don’t own a game console so I can’t comment on gaming experience. Overall I think it’s a great bit of kit which the same as the soundbar 700 has that built quality that you really only get with Bose. As I already owned the soundbar 700 for the past 2.5 years,my biggest concern was whether this was worth upgrading for??I have looked at a few reviews but there wasn’t a lot out there to help me in making this decision.Once I decided to go for the 900 and after using this for a few days I decided to take the soundbar 700 in one of the bedrooms upstairs. It was only when I listened back to the 700 that I realised what an improvement the new 900 soundbar is over the existing model. The introduction of Dolby Atmos does make a difference and whilst It won’t give the exact movie experience that you get at the cinema it comes very close!!With the new soundbar 900 the soundstage is a LOT wider than the 700 and you do notice the new upfiring speakers doing their bit. Now I must confess that I’ve also got the 900 connected to not one but two base module700 subwoofers and the 300 invisible surround speakers(soon to be replaced with the 700 surrounds or hopefully some new upfiring surrounds from Bose) and the hole set up is just out of this world.I mean, words don’t really do it justice and one has to listen to it to appreciate just how cinema like the hole set up is.But even if all the other accessories are removed leaving the bar on its own it’s still one impressive bit of kit. There are however 2 small issues that irritate me a bit.Number one is the new remote control on the 900….what was Bose thinking off when introducing this cheap remote??!!!Most of us I guess will be watching a movie in the evening and whilst the old remote would lit up every time you picked it up,the new one doesn’t.Yes it’s smaller but in my opinion it’s a massive downgrade from the previous 700 soundbar.I am now using the TV remote to control the bar as it’s own remote is useless to me. The other issue is the dialogue mode which the same as the 700 it enhances the dialogue so it can be heard in action packed scenes if that’s what you prefer.Whilst on the 700 this adjusted perfectly and whenever I had it switched on it provided a good balance between the actual sound and the voices of the actors, with the new 900 it’s too much of a difference. With it switched off everything sounds as it should but if you really want to hear the dialogue a bit better and once switched on it reduces everything else and sacrifices all the other sounds just for the sake of the voice/dialogue.I just keep mine off. All in all if you like myself already own the 700 and are thinking of upgrading I would say it’s worth it and aside from the silly remote you are definitely purchasing and improved product!!!

How does the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 connect to my TV?

The simplest way to connect the Soundbar to your TV is via the supplied HDMI cable. If your TV has an HDMI-eARC connection, you should use that connection to get the benefit of Dolby Atmos encoded content. If your TV does not have an HDMI connection, then you should connect the Soundbar to the TV using the optical cable (also supplied with the Soundbar).

Can source devices, such as a cable box, iPad, gaming system, etc., be connected directly to the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

No. All sources must be connected to the TV, and then a single connection (via the HDMI or optical cable) must be made from the TV to the soundbar.

Can I use my voice to control the other A/V equipment connected to my TV or search for content?

Yes. Bose Voice4Video™ technology and Alexa voice control* give you more control of our soundbars using just your voice. In addition to controlling your soundbar, you can control your TV and set-top box. This lets you turn on your TV, switch to the correct input and jump to your favourite station all with one simple Alexa voice command: “Alexa, watch channel 24”.
*Voice services may vary and may not be available in all languages and countries.

How do I connect a Bluetooth device with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

Press the Bluetooth source button on the remote control. The light bar on the soundbar pulses blue. Ensure that your mobile device is in pairing mode and select the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 from the list. You can also pair your mobile device to the soundbar using the Bose Music app.

What placement guidelines should be considered to ensure optimal audio performance from the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

Your Bose smart soundbar will sound great in almost any environment. But to get the best possible performance, be sure you do not put it in an enclosed/recessed cabinet or cover the side or upward firing transducers.

Can the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 be used with other Bose smart speakers and soundbars as part of a multi-room system?

Yes. You can group any of our smart speakers and soundbars together for multi-room listening using the Bose Music app. This way, you can fill your whole home with music — either synchronized, or different music in different rooms.

Can the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 be mounted to the wall?

Yes. The Bose Soundbar Wall Bracket (sold separately) lets you mount the soundbar to the wall.

How do I run the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

ADAPTiQ is part of the overall setup process and is driven through the Bose Music app. You will be prompted to run ADAPTiQ after you’ve downloaded the Bose Music app and started the setup process. If you skip running ADAPTiQ during the initial setup process — or change your room significantly or add bass module(s) or surround speakers after initially running ADAPTiQ — you can go back into the app and do it again. Initiate ADAPTiQ and follow the prompts in the app.

Can I use a third-party universal remote control with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

Yes. It can be controlled by third-party remote controls that include the set of Bose commands.

Does the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 have a headphone output?

No. However, using SimpleSync™ technology you can wirelessly connect our most popular Bose headphones with the soundbar using a Bluetooth connection. This connection can be setup through the Bose Music app.

Can I use my streaming-music presets from the Bose Music app with the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

Yes. The Bose Soundbar 900 use presets via the Bose Music app and the remote control.

Can I put the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 in standby mode with my voice?

Yes. Simply say, “Alexa, turn off [speaker name].” or “Hey Google, turn off [speaker name],” This action will stop any content playing, turn off any lights on the light bar, and disconnect Bluetooth devices. Alexa or Google Assistant will still listen for voice commands in standby mode.

Can I make calls to or take calls from the Bose Smart Soundbar 900?

Yes. Using Alexa only, you can directly call other Bose smart products, Amazon Echo products and anyone in your contacts list. Simply say, “Alexa, call Mum”, to initiate a call. Or say “Alexa, answer”, to accept an incoming call. You do not need your phone to make or answer a call, and it’s free of charge. However, when calling products, both parties are required to have this feature set up in order to use it and must be on Wi-Fi.

Can I control the bass?

Yes. Bass can be controlled in the Bose Music app.

Can you mix and match the wireless bass modules and soundbars?

Yes. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 and the Bose Bass Modules all use the same wireless protocols and can be mixed and matched. However, the design language and materials of the Smart Soundbar 900 and the Bass Module 700 are designed to complement each other. When connecting two bass modules to the Smart Soundbar 900, they must be of the same type.
