Changing the video black level

The video black level lets you adjust the appearance of the video image by increasing or decreasing the depth of the dark areas of the picture. This is useful to adjust the image to look best on the connected TV.

Changing the Video Black Level.

The Video Black Level option is only available when the media center is connected to the TV with a composite or S-Video cable. It is not an available when component cables connect the media canter to the TV. If there is a composite or S-Video connection, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure the TV is on and that the correct input is selected
  2. Press the System button on the remote control
  3. Select the Video icon and press the Enter button
  4. Press the down arrow until "Video Black Level" is selected. Press Enter
  5. Press the up or down arrows to change to either "Normal" or "Extended"
Note: If a VS-2 is connected, this option is available for all types of video connections made from the media center to the TV (HDMI, component, S-Video or composite). However, if a VS1 is connected, the Video Black Level option is not available when using component cables from the VS1 to the TV.
