Programming your remote

The universal remote control for your system can control other devices, like a cable box or Blu-ray player that is connected to your product. Learn how to program the universal remote to control a connected device.

Use the Bose Unify menu to program your remote.

To control a connected TV:
  1. On the console or remote, press the SETUP button to view the system menu on your TV.
  2. Use the remote to select an option:
    • TV Remote Autoprogram will guide you through programming your remote.
    • Advanced Setup lets you enter the brand and model of your TV. If either the brand or model is not available, it will guide you to press buttons on the TV remote to recognize the TV.
To control a connected device:
  1. On the console or remote, press the SETUP button to view the system menu on your TV.
  2. Use the remote to select Device Management.
  3. Select Add and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • If you already added the device, first select Remove under Device Management and follow the instructions to remove the device. After, select Add to reconnect and configure the device.
    • If your device is connected via HDMI and supports CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), you're all set.
    • If prompted to select a brand and model, enter the info for your device and follow the instructions.
Using the IR Emitters:
If your remote does not control or intermittently controls a device, try the included IR emitters. Since the system console—not the remote—controls your device, console placement might prevent control of your device. However, placing an IR emitter on the device ensures the remote control signal consistently reaches the device.
  1. Connect the IR emitter cable to the IR jack on the back of the console.
  2. Place an emitter on the other end of the cable on or near the remote sensor of the devce to be controlled. (There are 3 emitters on the cable to place near multiple devices, if necessary.)
Tip: The remote sensor on the TV or device is often a small translucent plastic on the front of the device.
To automatically power on/off devices at the same time:
If your devices are connected via HDMI and support CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), they should automatically turn on/off when you power on/off your Bose system. If a device is not connected via HDMI or does not support CEC, you can tell your system to turn it on/off when you power on/off your Bose system:
  1. On the console or remote, press the SETUP button to view the system menu on your TV.
  2. Use your remote to select Power Macro.
  3. Select the additional device you want to turn on/off when powering on/off your Bose system.
