Changing TV video format

Your system can accept different video formats (i.e. NTSC or PAL). This is useful, for example, if the system is moved to a region that uses a different format.

To select a video format:

Using the system menu

  1. On the remote control, press the System button
Tip: If the system menu does not appear on your TV, be sure the correct TV input is selected
  2. Scroll right to select Video, then press the Enter button
  3. Scroll down to TV Video Format, then press the Enter button
  4. Scroll up or down to select NTSC (US), PAL or Multistandard (for TVs that support PAL or NTSC)
Note: Multistandard is not available on earlier software versions
  5. Press the Enter button to select the format
  6. Press the Exit button to exit the menu
  7. Power off your system, then wait for Saving your settings to disappear from the system display.

Using the system display

If this setting is preventing your system from displaying video and on-screen menus, you can change it from the display on the system console.
  1. Power off your system
  2. On the system console, press and hold the Center button
  3. While continuing to hold the Center button, repeatedly press the On/Off (far left) button until Video appears on the system display
  4. Release the Center button, then begin repeatedly pressing the Volume + (far right) button to scroll through the video format options:
    1. NTSC INTERLACED NTSC
    2. NTSC PROGRESSIVE NTSC
    3. PAL INTERLACED PAL
    4. PAL PROGRESSIVE PAL
    5. MULTI INTERLACED PAL/NTSC
    6. MULTI PROGRESSIVE PAL/NTSC
  5. When the desired option is shown, press the On/Off (far left) button to select it and exit the menu
  6. Power on your system
  7. Power off your system, then wait for Saving your settings to disappear from the system console display.
