Poor sound quality from product

If you experience distortion, crackling, static, noise or unexpected poor sound quality from your product:

Be sure the system is set up properly and all connections are secure.

A connection may have come loose or may be connected incorrectly. For more info, see Setting up your product.

Be sure the speaker is oriented properly for the listening area.

Position the speaker to project sound in the direction of the listening area. If positioned incorrectly, sound coverage can lack in certain listening areas. The speaker can be placed flat verically, tilted back / angled upward vertically or tilted back / angled upward horizontally. Additionally, the bottom of the speaker includes an adapter for mounting on a speaker stand that has a 35 mm pole.

Determine if the problem is specifically related to bass performance.

If there is too little bass, see Too little bass or too much treble from product.
If there is too much bass, see Too much bass or too little treble from product.

Reset your product.

Check the EQ settings on your Bluetooth® device.

The EQ settings of your Bluetooth device can affect sound. On the device, try setting the EQ to "off" or "flat" and disabling any other sound playback adjustments (i.e. loudness, compression, reverb, etc.). These settings are commonly found in the device's audio settings or in the settings of the app being used to play audio.

Plug in a different audio source.

Connected a different audio source to determine if the issue is related to the source: If audio is being sent to your system from a a microphone, try a different microphone; if an instrument is connected, try a different instrument.

Try a different output on the mixer or audio source.

If the audio source has more than one output (i.e. a mixer with main and aux outputs), connect to another output with the same cables to determine if the output is the issue.

Replace the input cables.

Try different input cables using the same source and same channel. If this solves the problem, the original cables may be defective.

A slight popping sound may be heard when changing the EQ switch position.

it is normal to hear a slight popping noise from your system when you change the position of the EQ switch.

Check for sources of interference.

Electronics can pick up interference from other electronics connected to the same power circuit or connected within close proximity. Try disconnecting the power cord from any such nearby electronics (i.e. laptop/phone charger, TV, cable box, seasonal lights, microwave, etc.). If the issue is resolved, try connecting the device or your product to a different power circuit or farther away.

When playing bass-heavy audio at high volume, use a high pass filter.

When playing loud audio with a lot of low frequencies, bass port noise (broken/distorted sound) may be heard from the system. In such situations, adding a high-pass filter with 24-48 dB reduction at 70 Hz is recommended to lessen the bass processed by the system.

Try a different powered speaker or sound system.

If available, connect a to different powered speaker to determine if the issue is related to the audio source or connecting cables.
